Nigerian singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, being one of the biggest artiste in Africa, he has spoken about his humble beginning and were he will be leaving the world from.
Wizkid disclosed that he was born broke but right now he is of the opinion that he can’t die the same way he was born rather he will die in wealth.
Wizkid was born on 16 July 1990 in Surulere, a residential and commercial area of Lagos. He grew up in an interfaith household with twelve female siblings.
On a photo he shared on instagram, the ‘MANYA’ crooner wrote “born broke, die wealthy.”
He has signed a deal with Nike Sports Wear Company to help him produce his personal brand of jersey for his fans worldwide, the jersey will have the imprints “WIZKID FC.”
Wizkid’s contribution to the Nigerian Music Industry has earned him several achievements. He is the recipient of two BET Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, one MTV Europe Music Award, four MTV Africa Music Awards, two SoundCity MVP Awards, three MOBO Awards, six The Headies Awards, two Channel O Music Video Awards, six Nigeria Entertainment Awards, two Ghana Music Awards, two Dynamix All Youth Awards, two City People Entertainment Awards, and a Future Award.
In addition, he has been nominated five times at the MTV Europe Music Awards, three times at the American Music Awards, four times at the World Music Awards, and once at the Grammy Awards. Moreover, he received an ASCAP plaque for his songwriting contributions to Drake’s “One Dance.” He got nominated six (6) categories of the 2017 Sound city award and won the ‘Digital Artiste of the Year’.
