Why Baba Ijesha was not jailed for life – Actor Yomi Fabiyi
Nigerian actor and film producer Yomi Fabiyi, has shed light on why his colleague, Baba Ijesha, was not issued a life sentence following claims of sexual misconduct involving a minor.
Baba Ijesha is presently asking an Appeal Court to reverse the decision of a lower court which handed him a five-year sentence for allegations of assaulting a minor, who happens to be the foster daughter of another colleague, Damilola Adekoya, popularly referred to as Princess.
Speaking on the issue in a recent interview, Fabiyi noted that the reason the judge did not jail the embattled actor for life was because there was no strong evidence against Baba Ijesha.
He stated that there exists no concrete evidence to support the claim that Baba Ijesha engaged in any inappropriate behavior with the minor.
Yomi further claimed that the man who slept with Princess’ foster daughter is walking freely, adding the victim is not 14 years old as widely speculated.
He said,“Baba Ijesha’s appeal process is still ongoing in court. There was no evidence that he slept with the girl; that was why the judge didn’t sentence him to life imprisonment. He was called by Princess to shoot a skit, and the girl also said in court that she was called to shoot a skit. The person who actually slept with the girl is walking freely. The girl’s age is not 14. They never gave the court her birth certificate. We are waiting for the appeal court judgement.”
