I was known for breaking laws as a boy – Layi Wasabi

Content creator, Olayiwola Isaac aka Layi Wasabi has disclosed that he was known as a lawbreaker when he was growing up.

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2024 winner said his brother doubted him when he chose to study law at the university.

“Growing up, I was actually a lawbreaker, a notorious lawbreaker,” he began. “When my brother heard that I gained admission to the university to study law, he said, not only now would you be a law-abiding person, you would be a custodian of the law. I hope the law is in safe hands. Those were his words exactly.”

Wasabi initially lived in a small town in Oshogbo but when he made his big break three years ago with comedic skits; he relocated to Ibadan and Lagos.

Reflecting on his journey, he emphasised the importance of self-motivation and determination, stating, “I always imagined myself as a globetrotter, entertaining people worldwide. I aspired to be a TV star, feeling like a small-town giant longing for a life in the spotlight. But for me, Oshogbo was just a starting point.”
