LIKE father like daughter, Yeni Kuti is the eldest daughter of the late Afro beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti who never compromised his stand on the issue of corruption in the country, likewise the daughter who now carries the campaign against corruption to high heavens, as she revealed that, “On corruption you can call me basket mouth, part 2; I will never stop campaigning against corruption in the country. The issue is very alarming and drastic steps must be taken for a better Nigeria.”
On her growing up days, she said, “I grew up in a polygamous setting. Growing up with Fela was another thing entirely, because we used to call him Fela –he didn’t like us calling him daddy. You wouldn’t get your pocket money, if you called him daddy.”
What is Afro dance to her and why she opted for dancing? “I just love dancing. Afro dance is simply a central movement of the hips and waist –very easy to learn.”
Her relationship with other siblings is very cordial. “Initially, we used to fight a lot when we were young, especially myself and Femi, but today the relationship is very strong and we are one family. I speak with Seun almost on daily basis.
