Edo State will on Saturday March 28, 2009, come agog with laughter as a collection of A-list comedians and musicals will throng the ancient city of Benin to support veteran comedian and artist, I Go Save. The event, which is tagged I Go Save Unusual is billed to hold at the Hexagon, the foremost event venue in the state.
Speaking to the press, the artiste said the event was designed to show his fans fresh glimpse at his well-grounded comedic talent.
“I have been participating in private events and shows abroad for the past few months and I feel it is time to let my fans know I have not forgotten them. They got me to where I am today by their support and this is my way of showing them my gratitude. This is why for the first time in the history of my career I will go on nonstop for 45 minutes thrilling them from my repertoire of jokes, fresh materials that they have not heard anywhere else,” he vowed.
He added that another reason for the unusual event was the fact that apart from stand-up comedy there would be a showcasing of various forms of comics for the enjoyment of the audience including musical comedy, dance comedy, and stage comedy. “I want to change the traditional views of comedy in Nigeria. And let my fans know that there are so many other comedic forms for them to enjoy.”
He went on to say that his bid to show his gratitude to his fans led him to invite the crËme de la crËme of the entertainment industry to hold forte with him.
“At I Go Save Unusual I will be joined by comedy and musical greats including, the king of comedy himself, Alibaba, Ay, I Go Die, Timaya, Duncan Mighty, and Alegbe Baba,” he pledged.
He concluded by saying another aspect of the event is the fact that there would be a talent show prior to the event. And that winners of the talent show would get their first taste of stardom by being the opening acts at the event before the many dignitaries would enjoy the euphoria of the night.
