One of the cases that shook Nollywood to the foundation in 2012 was the kidnap of sweltering actress, Nkiru Sylvanus. This came after stiff opposition to her appointment as an aide to the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.

According to some of those opposed to her appointment, the blazing movie star was from Abia State and not Imo State.

It was then rumoured that the beautiful actress was in a sizzling romance with Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, an allegation that has not yet been proved by critics.

So, when she was kidnapped on a movie set in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, alongside her colleagues, Kenneth Okorie, there were different views on the matter. Ironically, the film she was shooting, when the incident occurred, ‘The Voice’, had a scene where she was kidnapped by a gunman. The movie was premiered in Lagos early July 2014.

Speaking in an interview during the movie premiere in Lagos, Nkiru was prompt to state that she did not stage manage her kidnap in 2012 to create publicity stunt for the flick as it was being alleged in many quarters.

According to her, the kidnap just coincidentally happened while she was shooting a film which had an abduction scene in it. She noted that she would never wish her enemy to go through the trauma she went through during the period.
