One Ganiyu Abdullaral, a 33-year-old hunter has been remanded in prison custody by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for shooting a bush pig that allegedly turned into his deceased fellow hunter identified as Iginla Oluwashina.
The accused said he shot at a bush pig but was surprised when the animal transformed into his friend and hunting colleague after he has killed it.
Speaking about the incident, the Prosecutor in the case,Monica Ikebulo said the strange incident happened on September 9,2016, at Iwaraji Camp in Efon Alaaye-Ekiti.
He stated further that the accused confessed that on the said date, he had gone on the hunting expedition with eight of his colleagues for a group hunting including Oluwashina and shot at the animal with his dane gun.
Ikebulo appealed for an adjournment in order to be able to duplicate and send to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The Magistrate, Modupe Afeniforo, in her ruling, instructed Ikebulo to duplicate the file and send it to the Director of Public Prosecution for a legal opinion.
The case was adjourned till November 11, for further mention.
