Kelly Hansome has taken to his Instagram to lay grievous accusations against Don Jazzy. In his tribute to a friend he says helped him out in difficult times, the Maga Don Pay crooner, the Mavin boss set him up for multiple arrests, and got him labeled a fraudster.
“The two times my brother @donjazzy and his people orchestrated my arrest, one for making a cover to the song ‘Feeling Good’ and the other when they set me up with a stolen laptop in a quest to make me look like a fraudster,” said the singer, who added that they “moved me from Kano where I was recording a campaign song for PDP to SARS Abuja and locked me up for no reason.”
He continued, “This man and @areafada1 made sure I was good. I turned my cell block into a concert and all inmates chanted MAGA DON PAY and LIKE PLAY and we talked all night.”
Their feud began in October 2011 after reports surfaced that Don Jazzy had the singer arrested and detained him at the Garki Police Command Headquarters, Abuja, for willful infringement of the intellectual property rights of then-Mo’Hits Records Limited led by Don Jazzy.
NET added that “Kelly Hansome was reportedly made to sign an undertaking promising to ‘refrain from further use of Mo’Hits Records Limited’s material, released or unreleased, and offered profuse apologies to Mo’Hits Records Limited’.”
However, shortly after the news surfaced, Hansome’s management shut down the report that the singer was arrested and also ordered music sites to take down the song that infringed on Mo’Hits copyright.
Don Jazzy also confirmed in an email that Kelly Hansome was not arrested. “We just wanted a proper documentation to make him hands off Mohits intellectual property,” said Don Jazzy, adding, “There was no form of violence recorded in resolving this issue. The music industry moving forward is all we preach but not by beef or taking other people’s property.”
Now, fast forward to seven years later and Kelly Hansome accuses Don Jazzy of setting him up.
