Entertainment Highway’s multi-channel digital satellite TV service, HiTV had its offices locked up by officers of the Nigerian Police Force on Monday November 21,2011.
The company which office is located at 24a, Isaac John Street GRA, Ikeja, Lagos was put under lock by the men of the Nigeria Police Force who are reportedly acting on the directive of Guaranty Trust Bank.
Sources say the company was locked up due to a huge debt owed by the Toyin Subair led Satelite TV Station.
Following the development,all HiTV servers have been shut down, subsequently affecting the channels hosted on it, including Hi Sports, Hi Nolly and Hi Nolly Yoruba.
Third party channels such as 1 Music, Biscon, Hip TV and 4Real TV have also been ‘temporarily’ shut down.
However, the other channels with independent uplink servers such as Al-Jazeerah, BBC, Star Gold, Trace Urban, MTV Base, BET, KidsCo, Nickelodeon, EuroSportnews, Bloomberg, Sky News, E!, and Fox News are still running.
A source further hinted us that GT bank may likely take over HITV if Mr Subair does not find a way to pay the debt.
In a related news, HITV management has apologized to its many subscribers for any inconvenience this may have caused them.
In a statement release on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, the management through its Public Relations Manager, Justin Akpovi-Esade confirmed and acknowledged that the cable network was experiencing disruption in its services. He however didn’t make mention the reason for which its services where shutdown.
‘Everything would be fine very soon. A team of competent personnel are working round the clock to ensure the issue is resolved. HiTV values its numerous subscribers and calls for their usual understanding and patience while the issue is being sorted out’, Akpovi-Esade said.
