TELEVISION viewers will be thrilled to a different kind of show as The Miss Green Democrat Beauty Pageant TV reality show set to make its debut soon.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Miss Democrat Beauty Pageant Limited, King George Onyi Iwuala, in an interview revealed that the reality show is open to young women in the society who must be citizens of Nigeria whether resident in Nigeria or abroad.
Being done in collaboration with O’jez Entertainment Centre, Iwuala said the contestants should be, at least, five feet tall, slender or full-bodied, and between the ages of 18 and 28 years. Additional prerequisites for the contestants are intelligence, drive, courage and a charismatic presence. “Application forms for this Pageant are available online while bank tellers with teller numbers for the application forms are available in the branches, nationwide, of our partnering Banks.”
The Pageant/TV Reality show, according to Iwuala, will be unveiled in a nationwide launch which will be aired on national television and also on international television stations such as HiTV. The unveiling will sensitize, inform and educate the general public about the Miss Green Democrat Pageant/TV reality show and what it stands for, emphasizing the expected calibre of contestants.
The unveiling will also target government, corporate bodies and companies, and high net-worth individuals to identify with the show in terms of sponsorships, advertisements, endorsements, and participation. It will additionally bring in media partnership, support, and exposure.
The selection process will be thorough as revealed by Iwuala. “Contestants will undergo a selection online/paper test drawn from a database of national and individual state knowledge questions. This is to fairly reduce the number of contestants to a handle-able size for proper physical and intellectual elimination method. Each state is to have their respective pre-arranged date to allow their entrants login into the test website and write the objective-based timed test.
A number of the highest scoring test-takers from each state – which will be published – are to then proceed to the zonal screening stage for a more comprehensive and intensive screening exercise.
Contestants representing the 36 States of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will converge in their respective geo-political zones. A host State in each zone will cater for the screening exercise of the candidates, the organizer’s welfare, and the logistics involved in the operations of the Pageant.”
He continued: “The aim of these zonal screening exercises is to shortlist candidates from each zone (depending on the number of states that make up the zone) that will go for the in-house camping reality show and thereafter contest in the grand finale.
“Each contestant is expected to have composed and written her agenda for the nation on occasion of her emerging the winner of the Miss Green Democrat. A week before camping begins; each of the contestants will ascend the podium before an intimidating audience and give their manifesto. Prior to this, however, the contestants will have experts come groom them on ethics, etiquettes, proper public behaviour, political carriage and public speech making.
“The shortlisted 37 candidates will then commence a three-week in-house camping reality show. The reality show will be aired on the national television stations. It will go a long way in giving a holistic view of each contestant and also provide the general public with an unprecedented opportunity to see the contestants in a natural environment (away from the thrills of the grand finale night), to see their attitude, interpersonal skills, teamwork ability, hobbies, habits, talents and skills as they go about their daily activities living in close proximity.”
Thirty six winners will emerge from the 36 states of the Federation including the FCT. The Miss Green Democrat Nigeria 2010 will drive home a brand new car, one million naira cash prize and one million naira scholarship while the first runner up will receive a car, one million naira scholarship and 500,000 Naira cash prize.
