A Rivers State group, the Summit has attacked Governor Nyesom Wike and called him irresponsible, rascally and thuggish in his dealing over some issues in the state.
The group Is resuscitated by concerned Rivers people as a neutral, non partisan and an all inclusive platform that renders its voice to the happenings in the State and the nation as the interest of the State is affected; and to educate Rivers people about the proper position of events in the State and country.
The Summit resolves and condemns the action of Governor Nyesom Wike “As irresponsible, rascally, thuggish and demeaning of the exalted office of the Governor of Rivers State. The Governor’s action amounted to obstruction of law officers in the course of their duties. In taking this position, Summit wishes to provide the following background: Immunity as provided by the Constitution is not absolute and does not cover investigations and obstruction of justice.
Those who went with the Governor to cause the obstruction could be charged because they do not have immunity from prosecution which the Governor currently enjoys. They are competent and compellable to stand trial. The Governor is competent but not compellable per the Constitution. No judicial officer has immunity against, arrest, search, investigation and/or prosecution in respect of allegations of crime and even in civil wrongs.”
