Music, as a popular reggae artiste sang in one of his tracks entitled ‘Different Colour, One People’, is a unifying language because there are no barriers in music. But in Ghana, the opposite might just be the case as one Ghanaian has condemned the attention being given to Nigerian music over the country’s music.
Recently, a Ghanaian fan attacked a Nigerian media personality on social media about what he perceived as injustice done to the spread of music other than Ghanaian music in the neighbouring West African country.
However, the presenter replied with more maturity and explained the process of selecting the trending songs without any bias.
“Your stupid show, senseless panelist, promoting Nigerian artistes here in Ghana. Thunder will fire you soon. Shatta Wale is the king of African Dance Hall, whether you like it or yes, you can hype StoneBwoy or Samini till till till, but they won’t be any better than Shatta Wale. SM4lyf,” a fan named Prince Hark Helwani had said.
But replying, Smile Time Africa said, “Thanks Mr. Prince Hark. Smile Time Africa is a Pan African show that broadcast to 12 countries across the world and it’s our duty to give them the best that Africa has to offer.
“We play only the trending songs and we appreciate your acknowledgment of the continued promotion of the two major Dance Hall gurus in Ghana. We will continue to promote and hype Ghana to the rest of the world and Africa to Ghana.
“We appreciate your criticism and again thanks for liking our fan page. Kindly inform your friends and relatives of our good work. God bless you and your entire family, Sir. Best of the evening.”
