Nollywood practitioners, stake holders have united against Diabetes by unveiling a movie academy in collaboration with Saving Life For Africa Diabetes to create awareness for people with health challenges in the industry.

The star studded seminar which was attended by captains of industries was organised and headed by self praised ‘King of Muzanga, Obi Madubogu.

The iconic film maker having overcome Diabetes in 1998 took it upon himself to fight the scourge through self oriented foundation, Saving Life For Africa(SLAD) to educate and inform all stake holders, senior and junior colleagues of a menace that have over the years claimed the lives of their top colleagues, such as Sam Loco Efe, Justice Esiri, Enebeli Elebuwa, Muna Obiekwe, etc.

Accordiing to the Anambra State born veteran, “SLAD is my initiative, in 1998, I was down with Diabetics, I discovered that my sugar level was high, then most people don’t know more about diabetics, some believes, the only illness that can dry somebody up is HIV, but that is not true, Diabetics does that too, after what I went through, I discovered that what kills people that has health challenges is lack of knowledge, so that was what inspired SLAD (saving life africa diabetics foundation).

I want to specially thank all my colleagues that came out in mass today to support this movement, I must commend our ambassadors too for their kind gesture, we just have to know that it is better for us to safe lives than waiting to go for candle light”, he remarked.

Present at the unveiling that took place at the national theatre Lagos ealier in the week are Genevieve Nnaji, Oge Okoye, Chinedu Ikedieze, Osita Iheme, Benedith Johnson, Mr Raw, Sammy Okposo, Ebube Nwagbo, Tony Umez, Afeez Ayetoro (saka), Chigozie Atuanya, Benita Nzeribe, Yaw of Wazobia FM, Emeka Ike.
