A football presenter lost her job as a presenter of calling Tottenham a proper bottle jobs. However, words was that the presenter has already decided to quit her role as co-anchor of Sky Sports’ Friday Night Football programme.
Gary Neville, who works for Sky Sports as a pundit, has leapt to the defence of Rachel Riley after the presenter revealed she had been forced to leave Sky Sports after abuse from online trolls.
The presenter described what she received as “hideous personal abuse online,” after calling Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham, in which Spurs men effectively conceded the title to Chelsea.
Riley, on her twitter page defended her comments after the game, writing: “Didn’t mean any offence to Spurs or their fans tonight just a surprise to slip of tongue Personal abuse is hideous.”
“After a great run to slip now is disappointing for Spurs. As a Manchester United fan neutral in the title run closer would’ve been more interesting. Gary Neville called the response to her comment “scandalous.”
“For the record I didn’t say Spurs are bottle jobs but tonight’s game was a test of nerve. WH hadn’t beaten any of the top 6 this season.“I love football, always have, always will, banter is fun, abuse is not whoever/whatever/wherever #respect.”
Riley was the presenter who presented the Manchester United Player of the Year award, who she famously supports. According to Riley was offered a new 12-month contract by Sky Sports, but chose to pursue other options.
