For many, when Muyideen Ayinde is mentioned, especially in Nollywood, they would wonder where on earth the person is from. But if same is done in the Yoruba genre of Nollywood, the name sure rings a loud bell.
Though he had done a blockbusting movie as a director, but few only know that he did the job. The flick from Funke Akindele, Jenifa, which shot her into an overnight limelight, was directed by this young and dark skinned director.
In an interview with him, he said his coming into the business has been over two decades now. He was once with Wale Adenuga Production as a continuity man. He saw the birth of Papa Ajasco and Company, Super Story and This Life, before going solo.
When asked if there is any possibility of a Nollywood director coming out with season films like 24, Prison Break, Merlin, Desperate Housewives and the likes, he replied this way, ‘You just hit the nail on the head because I am actually working on one now.’
‘I am very serious about it; it is going to be in over 104 episodes. The title is Rogbodiyan (Pandemonium), and it would hit the TVs very soon than expected. They should watch out for it.’
Though, Nollywood has seen improvement lately from what it used to be some years back, but many still see Nollywood not ripe enough to go into season films. They believe that our director still dot have the skill to make their movies suspense filled, let alone doing a season film which must be filled with suspense to keep viewers watching for a long time.
With the new craze of season films in Nigeria, one hopes Nollywood first season film go close to 24, Prison Break, Merlin, and Desperate Housewives.
