A popular market in Lagos Island, Balogun Market, was razed by a raging inferno, which started in the early hours of Monday.
Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in South-West, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed that the fire started at about 04:36 hours.
The fire reportedly affected four residential quarters, five plazas and a new generation bank situated near the busy market.
Officials of fire-fighters in the state were able to put out the fire.
Properties worth millions of Naira were reportedly destroyed by the fire, but no life was lost.
In another development, a raging fire gutted a dumpsite in Igando area of Lagos State. The incident occurred on Monday morning.
No life was also lost in the inferno, but residential homes were touched by the fire.
