Films can bring unity amongst ethnic groups – Bose Alao

Nollywood actress, Bose Alao, has spoken about the way films and the entertainment industry in general, can bring about unity amongst different ethnic groups in Nigeria.

The producer, in a recent interview, stressed that beyond entertainment, films can address the country’s most pressing challenges, calling on well-meaning Nigerians to tap into the potential of the industry.

Also explained, “The entertainment industry has a unique power to foster unity by portraying diverse narratives that resonate with various ethnic groups. By showcasing shared values and experiences, films can bridge divides and promote national cohesion. A notable film like The Wedding Party brought together diverse cultures in a celebratory narrative, highlighting common traditions and the beauty of unity amid diversity.

“The entertainment industry can drive economic growth by creating job opportunities and attracting investments. By developing local content, we can stimulate the economy and reduce unemployment.

“Film and entertainment can be harnessed to inspire entrepreneurship among youths by highlighting success stories and providing training programmes that equip them with necessary skills in media production and storytelling. The entertainment sector can contribute by raising awareness through compelling narratives that spotlight these issues, encouraging public discourse and action.”
