Nollywood actress Ebube Nwagbo has cried out what being famous has caused her. She blamed the media for writing unfounded stories about them and putting them in a bad light of the public. Recently, she revealed in an interview why she sometimes acts what she acts.
“Fame has really deprived me of my privacy, then, in as much as we can’t do without the press, they sometimes make matters worse with false news. And people so much trust and believe in the media; whatsoever they say about a person, the public swallow it hook, line and sinker.
Another thing, I have been fighting impersonation for only God knows how long. He or she [the impersonator] does that on Black Berry, Facebook and everywhere. The person has been going about collecting money illegitimately in my name. It has been going on for a while now, I am tired of talking about it. I just have to do what I have to do to put a stop to this madness. I am happy people out there appreciate what we do, but some other persons are also out there to tarnish the image that took us years to build. And one can’t start going from door to door to start explaining to everybody the true side of the story. Ironically, it is through the media that often publish false news that we still have to use to reach out to people with our own angle to the whole story. It’s somehow funny, but what can we do?
Fame has good and bad sides. So with every other job; they have their own hazards. That is the price one has to pay to be who he or she wants to be. I like my job, in as much as it has its own down side, nothing is perfect.” She explained.
