Celebrated Sapele-based Igbanke-born former plantain seller and 2nd runner up at the just concluded 11th edition of Nigeria’s premier modeling competition, Nigeria’s Next Super Model (NNSM), Ngozi Akimokwu has told hundreds of church members of Prophet David Aderemi Babalola’s His Presence Redemption Ministry, Ogba, Lagos that she is now a super star.
The skinny-light-skin model made the declaration during the church service of Sunday, 17th December, 2017, while testifying of her feat.
Ngozi, who was said to have been discovered in the streets of Sapele in October, 2017 and taken to modeling diva, Joan Okorodudu said, “I have become who I have always wanted to be; a super star. It’s not by my power but by the grace of God.”
She swore never to go back to hawking of plantain as she had done for over eleven years before the good hand of destiny discovered her.
“I want to be an inspiration to many girls’ in the streets. This especially to those doing what they are not supposed to do. My life should teach others to wait for their turn in life. When the day of anyone comes his or her story, like mine as of the present time, would change.
It took less than three months for the story of Ngozi to change for the better. She was brought out of the hostile life of hawking to stardom within the short period.
She said of her sojourn, “My heart goes to Mrs Joan Okorodudu for accepting me despite my many frailties and given me the rare platform to showcase what God has given me. What would I have done if she hasn’t provided that opportunity to stand before the world?
I also thank Mr Emmanuel who saw me when he never knew me from Adam and brought me to my place of destiny.”
