In the past week, Nigerians have been introduced to new styles of dance as Dance234; a dance reality show likened to no other for young Nigerians looking to pave their way into history through dance hit the airwaves.
Last week we saw how the auditions in Abuja went down, with each of the participants tasked to perform new dance styles. This week, auditions held at the Hotel Presidential, in Enugu will be airing live on the Dance234 show. The show which is being organized by KOGA started airing from the 6th of August 2011, and will henceforth continue to air on Magic World on DSTV by 7pm on Saturdays and on Real Stars on Star Times by 8pm on Sundays.
The final 20 contestants, who emerged after some rigorous auditions held in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu and Benin will be battling it out on the Dance234 stage for the next 13weeks for the grand price of one million naira, a brand new car and a dance course abroad.
One of the judges on DANCE 234, Preere Yibowei while commenting on the show said ‘it is good to be back in Lagos after all the travelling around for auditions in all the regions, but I believe this is where the real task lies, because every one of the 20 finalists that came out of the DANCE234 auditions were talented. Choosing the best of the 20 is not going to be a small task, but I am sure we are up to it.
Another judge on the show Brandiny also stated that We were looking for talented dancers with unique dance styles, not necessarily experts and with the twenty finalists we have selected, we are surely on our way to unveiling another Nigerian Dance guru. The audition was tough for the contestants but I can guarantee that the rest of the journey for the twenty finalists will be tougher because it is our job to ensure the best man wins.
The producer of the show Jemila Musa promises that DANCE234 will go beyond a show. Dance234 is committed to bringing to a reality the stardom dreams of these dancers, ‘this is why we have concluded plans to air the competitions on TV and give the winner an opportunity to become better through further dance lessons abroad.
