Leading Nollywood female producer Emem Isong is poised to literally ‘relocate’ the entire industry to Uyo, the capital of Akwa-Ibom, for this weekend’s premiere of Uyai, her latest language movie.
The event, which holds elaborately this Sunday, at the banquet hall of Eemjm Hotel and Suite, is expected to be graced by most of the big names in Nollywood, as well as dignitaries from the State’s government. According to hard working Isong, the duo of Darlene Benson and Anne Inyang, both illustrious daughters of the State, would light up the evening with scintillating musical performances.
On why she is storming her State for the premiere, the iconic filmmaker, who recently breezed in from the US, explained that she chose Akwa-Ibom, for the premiere because it’s a language movie, essentially produced for the grass roots people. “Every thing about this movie revolves around my people and our rich cultural heritage as well as customs and belief.
We shot in this State; virtually all the cast members are from this State and the story too, also emanated from this State. Having put all these into consideration, we decided to bring it home for premiere, as our own contribution to the development of our State. And like I told you earlier, globally, language films are taking the front rows in production houses, and we do not want to be left behind in Nollywood,” she posited. The Ibibio language movie, we also gathered, is due for a nationwide release, immediately after the world premiere, that is currently serenading the good people of Akwa Ibom State and its environ
