Son of legendary Afro-Pop singer Fela kuti, Seun Kuti has been vocal on the decision by the federal government to ban the sale and importation of codeine in Nigeria.
Codeine was originally and still a cough syrup used to fight cough but Nigerian youths later discovered that consuming this in a larger quantity takes one to another state of living (highness).
With the rise in the abuse of this drug the Nigerian Federal Government on May 1 had issued a ban on it in all part of the country which many are in support of it.
According to Seun Kuti the ban placed on this drug will only make drug dealers richer as it can be recalled that “Igbo” (weed) was banned in Nigeria yet it is still selling in all part of the country.
In his words;
“Igbo has been banned since forever (unjustly) but e still dey everywhere. The reactionary ban of Codeine by the FG only means drug dealers will make more money.” Seun revealed.
