Two young men identified as John Dodo, Mohammed Ndakupe, Sidiq Ibrahim have been sentenced to two years imprisonment for defrauding the Abuja Environmental Protection Board of N288,000.
They were charged with a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and criminal misappropriation.
The judge, Justice Adebuklola Banjoko, who presided over the case granted them bail of N500 each after they promised not to repeat the acts.
Mr Anthony Agbonlahor,the counsel for the suspects pleaded with the court to be lenient and temper justice with mercy because his clients are first time offenders adding that they behaved well throughout the hearing.
EFCC counsel, Steve Odiase said “this nine-year-old case was first filed on April 18, 2007.
“There had been issues, trials and changing of counsel throughout the duration of the trial,’’ he said.
He also disclosed that the voluntary statements of one convict and a witness was used to champion the case
