A couple, George-Sunday Udoh and his wife Victoria, sell off their daughter for N400,000 so as to settle their bills and survive. Penny wise, pound foolish.
The Nigerian Police Force have arrested this couple who sold their young daughter at Ikom Local Government area in Cross River state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Haviz Inuwa said that the suspects were apprehended at Ikom Local Government area on April 26.
Mr. Inuwa explained that te suspects decided and sold their daughter off so as to pay their rent and start up a business,a provision shop, which would enable them survive.
This must be an advice from the pit of hell which they adhered to. They must have been in so much torment and suffering to have sold off their young daughter, but that does not justify their action.
Mr. Inuwa went on to explain that on April 26, 2017, they were informed about this case which set him to work. He said that his men arrested the culprits,George-Sunday and Victoria.
He went on to say:
“The suspects were arrested by our operatives attached to the Ikom division. The case has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department here in Calabar and investigation is on-going’’.
In an interview with NAN(News Agency of Nigeria), the father of the child denied selling his daughter,
“It is true that we don’t have money and things are very hard with me and my wife, but we did not sell our baby for N400,000,’’ he said.
