A cleric, Mohammed Yussuf, 50 and daughter Sulamat,18 were arrested when a group of beggars reported them to the police.
It was reported that the cleric sent his daughter to distribute akara(bean cake) to beggars around the mosque, and when they cut it open they discovered needles inside.
One of the beggars who knew the suspects very well led the police to their place of abode and they were apprehended.
This allegedly took place at Offin Street, Balogun area in Lagos Island. They were arraigned in court afterwards, where they pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate Ade Adefulire, discharged them for a bail of 500,000 each with two sureties in like sum that must be blood relation with a deposit of N100, 000 in their bank accounts.
