Chelsea have slapped an £88million price tag on Paris Saint-Germain target N’Golo Kante after the Ligue 1 giants opened talks with the midfielder’s representatives.
The French midfielder joined Chelsea for £30m in 2016 and won the PFA Player of the Year as Antonio Conte guided the Blues to the title.
However, though Kante’s performances have remained consistent during his second season at the club, the team’s have not and Conte is expected to depart this summer.
PSG announced Unai Emery’s departure this week and the French club are determined to heavily invest in the squad again this summer.
Kante was a target for PSG when he left Leicester two years ago but the club have held talks with his representatives in the last fortnight over a move to Paris, according to RMC.
Sporting Director Antero Henrique is said to have met with Kante’s entourage where he was informed that Chelsea would sell the player for a fee of around £88m (€100m).
That would make Kante the fifth most expensive player in history behind Paul Pogba, Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Neymar.
However, the midfielder is happy in London and has doubts about a move to France, where PSG have won five of the last six championships.
