Chelsea fans in Nigeria took the emergence of their team as European club champion to a frenzy height and appear not set to stop the celebration.
Immediately team Captain, Didier Drogba, scored the last penalty that gave Chelsea a 4-3 victory over Bayern Munich on Saturday night in the Champions League, the celebration started, with huge fireworks in most parts of Lagos State.
From highbrow Victoria Island to Opebi, Ikeja, Abule Egba, Ikoyi, Oshodi, Okota and other areas of Lagos, knockouts, reminiscent of what happens during Christmas and New year celebrations, went off in their thousands.
Beer parlours witnessed huge sales after the match, with many staying up all night.
Social networks, Facebook and Twitter, were also bombarded by Chelsea fans in Nigeria, literally bragging about the doggedness of their team.
The celebration was taken a notch higher on Sunday, with some fans organising special Sunday service in their churches (see one of the accompanying photographs).
The blue jersey of the club was also the dominant wear among worshippers who are Chelsea fans during church services today.
A group embarked on a road show inside a trailer, celebrating wildly.
It was more of a carnival for the Chelsea fans in Lagos today and as at the time of filing this report, the celebration had not stopped.
