Carol King turns author as she clocks 61

Veteran actress, Carol King has launched her book, ‘The Moving Star’ to mark her 61st birthday anniversary.

The star-studded event was held at Freedom Park, Lagos Island, where King shared the inspiration behind the book.

According to the actress, the book, which was supposed to have been launched last year, contains her journey in life so far.

The thespian, surrounded by family and friends said, “The book was supposed to have been launched last year but glitches here and there so we couldn’t so I got stuck with my thought God’s time is always the best so today is a good day and the day the Lord has made.”

Asked how she chose the title of the book, the actress tied it to divine instruction, saying she had diverse options until the one she eventually used was revealed to her.

Her words, “I have so many other titles which I can’t remember now and just that day was a Sunday service and it was around Christmas period and the service was about the wise men who followed the movie star to locate where Jesus was and it just dropped in my spirit, The Moving Star. I thought about it and let it go, from then on it just kept coming up. I was wondering why that is the title we had to name the book. That was how I came about the title and I looked at my beginning and where I am now, I’m moving and I am a star.”

She spoke about her spirituality saying, “My earlier year in the industry, I was not too grounded spiritually but then it got to a point in my early 15, I started gaining ground and can now say I have a relationship with my God. And by the time I got ordained as a minister in my church, it was sealed, signed and delivered. So, I would say I’m in a good place with God, I love where I am.”

She added that she is a private individual and rarely shares her secret with people but revealed that her book contains some shocking revelations about her life.

King also said she would get a share of 50 percent from the book launch but pledged that she would distribute her share between three charity homes in Nigeria.
