Nigerian Kannyood actress Hauwa Maina has finally given up the ghost after some years of eventful and adventurous journey in the movie industry in Nigeria.
Hauwa Maina died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano on Wednesday night May 2nd, 2018.
The news of her demise has been confirmed by some Kannywood actors who are deeply pained by her departure.
Confirming the death, popular Kannywood actor, Ali Nuhu, said the celebrity died at the hospital after an illness.
“Yes Hauwa Maina is dead,” Ali Nuhu said
During her times on earth, Maina was one of the most popular faces in Kannywood world. She was well known for her roles in epic Hausa movies as ‘Queen Amina’ and ‘Bayajida’.
Maina started her acting career around the year 1998 in a movie directed by Saminu Mohammed Mahmud.
She appeared in a number of other films such as Sarauniya Amina, Gwaska and Maina, produced by her company, Ma’inta Enterprises Limited.
The Biu, Borno State-born star had also delved into movie production and directing after spending close to 20 years in the entertainment industry.
Many Kannywood celebrities have condoled with the family of the deceased, posting her pictures on social media and praying for the repose of her soul. Hauwa Maina will be buried in Kaduna today Thursday, May 3rd 2018 according to Muslim rites.
