Wife of the richest man in the world, Bill Gates, Melinda Gates, was on Wednesday, in Africa, Malawi to be precise to see the women farmers and learn about the lives, challenges the women faces in the country and to show them how they can improve their crop yields.
During her visit to the country, she was took a tour round some of the health facilities in a remote area of Lilongwe to see the Malawi Safe Motherhood Initiative in action.
Rather than sleep in a luxury hotel base on her status, Melinda chose to spend some couple of nights with a couple and their kids in their home where she followed the women in the community collect drinking water.
“During my stay with the Gawanini family in Malawi, I joined the women collecting drinking water. I carried 20litres and it was tough. Meanwhile, Chrissy (Middle) is carrying about 40litres. Many women do this every day,” she wrote.
