Popular Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, better known as Basketmouth, has slammed bloggers in the country for not investigating news materials before posted them on the internet through their platforms.
Coming from his Valentine’s Day show at the Apollo Centre in London, England, which was largely attended, the humour merchant advised bloggers to take time to research on information they source for or gets to them.
He was reacting to a tribute he made to his late eldest brother, who died 10 years ago, which some online media platforms posted as if he lost his brother to death in 2015.
On February 14, 2015, Basketmouth posted, “You’ll always be remembered, loved and cherished. RIP Okpocha Kingsley. I love you bro,” but some bloggers published the story to look as if the comedian just lost his brother.
“When our Nigerian bloggers will be doing copy and paste stories….. No investigation, no proper research. Anyway, I lost my eldest brother on the 14th of Feb 2005 (10 years ago) Not 2 days ago. Akamu,” Basketmouth wrote.
Meanwhile, some of his fans have continued to commensurate with him and have prayed that God gives him and his family the fortitude to continue to bear the loss.
