A Barcelona fan, Teri died while celebrating the 6-1 thrashing of Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, March 8 in Yola, Adamawa. Barcelona made the biggest comeback in Champions League history, thrashing Paris Saint-Germain 6-1 to overturn a 4-0 deficit from the first leg.
According to witnesses in Yola, Adamawa, Teri was watching the game at a local centre when the tragic incident happened.
Mr Teri, a trader who was described as a staunch Barcelona fan came with some of his relatives to watch the game at the viewing centre.
The store owner was said to have slumped while celebrating the goal and died a few minutes later.
His body was later deposited at the mortuary of the nearby Yola Specialist Hospital.
A Yola resident, Mohammed Umar wrote on Twitter;
“With deepest sympathy, I regret to announce the dead of Teri (west).
A shop owner at upper luggere opposite peace hospital yesternight 8.03.2017 as a result of jubilation of a football match between Barcelona vs PSG,”
Maulud Usman, a former chairman of Yola Central Development Area also wrote on Facebook;
Mixed Feelings in My Area as Barca wins Yesterday. We Lost Teri (West),”
Another witness, Mohammed Umar, wrote on Facebook;
“He lost His Life immediately the winning Goal was scored. Teri is a Die hard fan of Barca, He owns a provision shop at upper Luggere opposite peace Hospital here in Jimeta.
“Although not confirmed yet the main cause of his death but it has to do with a heart attack, over excitement I guess. I wish the family and the people of luggere the fortitude to bear the loss of our own.”
