A bachelor party (Canada, South Africa and the US), also known as a stag party, stag night or stag do (especially in Commonwealth countries and Ireland), a bull’s party (South Africa), or a buck’s party orbuck’s night (Australia), is a party held for a man shortly before he enters marriage, to celebrate his “last night of freedom” or merely to spend time with his male friends, who are often at his wedding party afterwards. A bachelor party is usually planned by the best man or other friends of the groom, occasionally, with the assistance of a bachelor party planning company.
Focusing on this part of that definition “spending time with male friends”, we will be suggesting some bachelor party ideas that do not involve strippers. So here are some fun, guy-centric outings you can try out or suggest to your partner.
Paintball Party
Recently the staff of our company had a chance to go paint balling at Elegushi Beach, Lekki in Lagos here and it was so much fun.
Once the guys got into the paint ball gear and get-up, it was hard getting them out of it.
An open space, a big gun and camouflage or role play outfits to match and you can hardly blame the guys for not wanting to leave.
Both the paint ball game of “capturing the flag” and the range shooting with the paint ball guns are so much fun and the groom’s party is sure to enjoy themselves, well except for the groom of course who will be at the receiving end of all those paint balls.
Barbecue Get together
Throw a casual barbecue party or hang out featuring lots of good ol’ barbecue and cold beer or drinks. Ideal situation to swap stories of ghost of girlfriends past!
You can hire a caterer to do the barbecue for you or you could make it more fun by doing it yourselves.
Go-kart Racing
This is a good way for your competitive side to show ad also a very good excuse to act like kids. Think about it: speeding down a tight corner while trying to avoid your guys and a pile of tires is a sure fire way to get your adrenaline pumping and bring out the kid in you.
The Get Arena in Lekki, Lagos is a go-kart place and they stay open till late. You will have to make enquiries on how to go about using the venue and go-karts for a bachelor’s night!
Casino Night
You can all go out for a night at the casino. Drinks and turn tables make for an interesting night out and for great conversation afterwards.
You can visit the Federal Palace Hotel & Casino, Le Meridien Eko Hotel & Casino in Lagos, Transcorp Hilton Abuja Hotel, Abuja Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Abuja and you can ask around about the casino’s in your area but please make sure they are legal and legit places before you attempt to go there.
Beach Soccer Party
Pick a bright and sunny day to hang out on the beach with some cold drinks, some loud music and play some 5 A side soccer on the beach (beach soccer). For those who love soccer this is a good way to let loose. You can have a beach party and incorporate the game into it.
Bowling Tournament
Lets Go Bowling in The Palms shopping mall, Lekki, Lagos is a hot spot for bowling. The location has been used for some events so it is sure that they would let you throw your bachelor’s party there. You just need to work out the details of what is or is not allowed during your event.
Guys, what do you think? Would you trade your idea of a “traditional bachelor’s party” for these ideas? What other ideas have you come up with or seen for a bachelor’s party? Drop some comments and let us know.
