Funnyman Ayo Makun popularly called AY Comedian has reacted to the large turn out of celebrities and public figures at the official Premier of Coming 2 America which was held last night at Film Houser Lekki Lagos.
The movie premier saw almost every Nigerian celebrity in attendance showing support for the Hollywood classic.
The comedian today took to his Twitter page to react to the large turnout noting that it is not a bad thing to support international projects but he hopes that Nigerian celebrities and brands will support Nollywood the same way they invest so much into Hollywood. He shared that a lot of Hollywood projects get immense support from Nigerian celebrities but the same level of support is not given when it comes to Nollywood.
Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones also reprise their “Coming to America” roles in the sequel; new cast members include Leslie Jones and Tracy Morgan.
Over three decades after Eddie Murphy starred as Prince Akeem in “Coming to America,” the comedian is bringing the character back — this time as the newly crowned King Akeem — in “Coming 2 America.
Here’s Amazon’s official synopsis: “Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.”
A few days ago the comedian instituted legal actions against popular News outlets, ThisDay for publishing a defamatory story against him and his brand. The comedian asked the news company to do the needful or meet him in court.
