A Lagos based rights activist and chartered image and brand consultant, Olufemi Aduwo, was on Sunday 8th May 2011 attacked by men suspected to be hired killers on Lagos/Ota Expressway. A source said that Aduwo was returning in his silver coloured Toyota Camry 2007 model car from the 30th Anniversary of Bishop David Oyedepo of Winner’s Chapel Ministry at the time of the incident. The 3-man gang we heard drove in an unmarked car and were said to have trailed Aduwo and some members of his NGO, Rights Monitoring Group (RMG) to and from the event and launched the attack as soon as they entered the highway back to Lagos. Although, the occupants of the car escaped unhurt, the car was badly damaged and reports have been made to the police for further action. Aduwo was quoted to have said that he suspected a frontline opposition party in Nigeria as been behind the attack over his comments on its chieftains’ ‘undemocratic’ tendencies.
