The members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who were present at the Tuesday meeting have described as “a joke taken too far” the attempt by some senators to impeach President Mohammadu Buhari.
Mai Mala Buni, the party’s National Secretary issued a statement advising the senators in question to concentrate on their constitutional responsibilities of lawmaking and discharging legislative mandates.
The senators were also warned not to allow what was known as “political shenanigans” to overshadow national interest.
Speaking about those who have claimed that their court case is politically masterminded, the statement described such assertion as baseless. “Repeated allegations that the court cases are politically-motivated by the President and the APC are baseless. The
President Muhammadu Buhari administration strictly respects the principle of the rule of law and also adheres to the constitutional provisions of separation of powers between the three arms of government.
“The APC urges Mr. President and the entire cabinet to remain focused in its effort to deliver on election promises and to steer the nation to its deserved heights,” the statement said.
