Some progressive youths in the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioner (ANTP) has established a new movement called ‘The Movie Ambassador’ (TMA), which is still an arm of their parent body.
The group met on Sunday to discuss some issues affecting the Yoruba movie industry in general.
One of the issues tackled was how to make their film sector more professional and attractive to earn respect among movie buffs all over the world.
The group also highlighted some criteria for those intending to join the movement, which are;
1. You must be a young film maker, age 16-45years only
2. You must be a member of ANTP and can speak Yoruba language effectively and English language (optional).
3. You must have documentary evidence you are in any practice of film making in the last five years e.g evidence of levies paid or appearance or credit evidence in a movie within this period or beyond (please note the minutes or where the caption is in the movie)
4. You must have been earning from your chosen field in film making no matter how small.
5. You must be formally trained (film) with minimum of six months certificate in your chosen field with the exception of actors(optional) OR you either have an ongoing film studies in a recognised movie institution OR ready to pursue one in the next 12months.
6. You must be resolute and ready to embrace unity and oneness irrespective of where you started from, who you are and where you belong now. We must speak in ONE VOICE.
7. You must be ready to see other members as colleagues, no apprentice or surbodinate. We are all professional colleagues.
8. You must be ready to act as a brand worthy of emulation on and off the field, bearing in mind, NO one is bigger than the industry.
TMA will be officially launched in Lagos on February 14, 2014 at a venue to be announced later.
Those present at Sunday’s meeting were Mercy Aigbe, Yomi Fash Lanso, Kunle Afod, Sunkanmi Omobolanle, Biodun Okeowo, Yomi Fabiyi (the interim Publicity Secretary) and many other top Yoruba stars.
