Nigerian sensational actor and filmmaker, Murphy Afolabi, reportedly died on Sunday, barely 24 hours after the death of another popular Nollywood actor, Saint Obi.
While details of his death are yet to be officially confirmed, it has been reported that he sustained injuries from a fall in the bathroom
On Sunday afternoon, Ola Yusuff, a well-known director and producer in the industry, announced the Yoruba actor’s death on his Facebook page, simply stating “REST IN PEACE…”.
Another popular actor Odulade Adekola also posted on his Instagram page to confirm the news he said, “Jesus Christ we lost Murphy”
Biola Bayo also wrote on her page, “A black Sunday Indeed”
His death came less than 24 hours after the announcement of the death of fellow producer and actor Saint Obi.
Nollywood has been left in mourning amidst recent happenings. While we wait for official announcement by family, may God grant his family and the movie industry the fortitude to bear the loss.

Born on May 5, 1974, Afolabi got into the movie industry in 2001.
The graduate of Ire Polytechnic, Osun State, appeared in over 60 movies before his death.
His film credits include ‘Ifa Olokun’, ‘Omowunmi’, ‘Jimi Bendel’, ‘Wasila Coded’, ‘Olokiki Oru’, and ‘Idera’.
Besides being fond of writing scripts and producing films in the Yoruba language, the late veteran actor enjoys an exciting life full of entertainment, happy and sometimes scary moments.
During his lifetime, he was the CEO of Fatuns Films Production.
The late Duro Ladipo was reportedly among the legends that influenced Murphy’s career.
There is no public records about the late actor’s wife but unsolicited reports confirm he was blessed with two children, a boy and a girl, their names are Fathia Afolabi and Olamilekan Afolabi.
