A female robber and four other members of the notorious gang were said to have been killed by the Anambra State Special Anti-Robbery Squad on Wednesday during a gun battle.
It was gathered that the notorious robbery and car-snatching syndicate were killed enroute Nnebis Road in Asaba, Delta State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ali Okechukwu who confirmed the incident disclosed that the gang was trailed when one of the gang members identified as Obisma was arrested by the Delta State Police Command, he confessed to a number of arm robbery and car snatching operations done by the gang in and outside the state.
Okechukwu said. “Obisma led our operatives to Asaba for the arrest of his accomplices and recovery of their operational weapons.”
He said that on getting to the robbers den, they (robbers) opened fire in them but some of the suspects were gunned down while some flee.
“The policemen were attacked by the gang members upon arrival at the robbers’ den in Asaba.
“Some, who sustained bullet injuries during the operations, are still receiving treatment in a hospital. Efforts are on to arrest other fleeing gang members,” the PRO said.
