The crisis brewing in Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Lagos chapter has taken a new turn. This is due to what is presently happening at the actors’ body.
The Lagos State chapter chairman, Emeka Rising has been impeached on a 9-count offence.
According to information available to Nigeriafilms.com, the Board of Trustees gave the nod to the vote of no confidence passed on Emeka.
We learnt that a letter of no confidence dated February 1 was signed by all executive members except the Financial Secretary, Lizzy Ibeh and the Assistant Secretary, Stella Maris Nnaji. Also, 37 non executive members gave their nods to his impeachment.
Among offences allegedly committed by Emeka Rising are that he
1. Runs the state chapter like his private business,
2. Refuses to allow donations, levies and registration to be paid into the state AGN Account, hence he collects all registration
3. Collects money from the Financial Secretary, Lizzy Ibeh and spends as he pleases without recourse to the other EXCOS
4. Said no past AGN Chairman or President, including the last regime of Segun Arinze has ever accounted to anybody and it can not start with him. He is not accountable to anybody.
According to what we learnt, the body is still waiting for the guild’s National president on what next step to take on the matter.
