Adejumoke Aderounmu: Actor Jide Awobona exonerates Funke Akindele

Nollywood actor, Jide Awobona, has defended his senior colleague, Funke Akindele in the allegation of ignoring the late Adejumoke Aderounmu.

Recall that Aderounmu’s death, which occurred on Tuesday has continued to generate different reactions, especially as her brother, Adeola slammed Akindele for “eyeservice”, stating that she neglected the actress when she tried to meet her.

However, Awobona, dismissed claims by Adeola, adding that Akindele tried her best to stay in contact with the late Aderounmu but she continued to isolate herself.

According to Awobona, Funke Akindele called him to reach out to the late Jumoke on her behalf because she knew they were cool.

“I really don’t feel like saying anything about this but I need to let the world know that Aunty Funke actually called me to ask of Jumoke because she knows we were cool. She insisted I call her to be sure she was fine. I did, we spoke at length and I complained about her isolating herself. May her soul Rest In Peace and May God forgive us all.”
