The Benin Monarch,Omo N’ Oba N’Edo Ukuakplokpolor,Oba Erediauwa,the Oba of Benin Kingdom, has commended Edo born Nollywood Director,Amb.Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen,for his concerted effort to put the rich culture of the kingdom to the front burner through the motion picture business.
The Oba of Benin gave this commendation when Lancelot Imasuen paid him a courtesy visit in his palace recently. The Monarch who offered prayers and blessings for the filmmaker in the presence of his chiefs said the efforts of the Nollywood director are not in vain as his works are being acknowledged.
Earlier in his address, Amb.Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen told the Oba that he was in the palace to pay homage As well present his latest film, Adesuwa, a Benin historical film to the Monarch.
He also used the medium to inform the Monarch of his intention to shoot Ovoranmwen N’ogbaisi, the story of the Benin Expedition of 1897,by the British government in which Oba Ovoranmwen,was deported to Calabar.
He added that a prominent Benin daughter, Senator (Mrs.) Daisy Ehanire-Dajuma, has promised to support the film project which is aimed at drawing the world’s attention to the stolen artifacts from Benin Kingdom by the British government.
High point of the visit was the presentation of gift items to the Monarch, who in turn gave his royal blessings to the filmmaker
