Singer, Davido is feeling vindicated that he followed his instincts and reverted to his original sound after he was pressured by his management to ‘westernise’ his sound after sealing an international music deal.
The singer, upon signing an international record deal with Sony Music in 2016, was told that his music would not sell outside Africa if he didn’t make some alterations to his sound.
This led him to drop some singles, including ‘Gbagbe Oshi’ where he attempted to infuse ragga to his sound to mild reception followed by ‘Coolest kid in Africa’ another song that did poorly by Davido’s lofty standard.
But according to Davido, at the turn of the new year, he begged and fought to make the music that fans have come to identify with him over the years.
He shared a video on his gram today of American singer, Omarion enjoying his latest single, ‘IF’ and he reacted to it saying that the single is now the number one song in Africa.
