Former beauty queen and fashion entrepreneur, Maryam Elisha is in reflective mood after she escaped being burnt as her luxury Mercedes Benz G-Wagon car burst into flames on the popular Eko bridge in Lagos. Despite the big loss, the Rikaoto by ME boss is grateful to come out unhurt from the inferno.
Reacting to the loss of her car in a telephone chat, Maryam said that she doesn’t understand how the incident happened, insisting that the car was in good shape before she drove it out.
She told Encomium, “I thank God I made it out of the car. I am grateful I am alive. I don’t even know what caused it. The car was in perfect shape before I drove it out. It had no fault at all, I tried watching the video after the whole scene just to see what actually happened. It wasn’t faulty at all. God knows best. I saved so much before I could buy it. I have a small house car I am using now pending the time I would get another one. I just thank God I made it out alive.”
She was alerted by passersby that her G-wagon was on fire as she drove on the Lagos bridge three days ago. She struggled to stop the car for a while as the brakes failed but it eventually slowed down. Yet, she couldn’t get out of the car until samaritans helped her force the door open.
