Amara got married to football legend, Kanu Nwanwko about 13 years ago, when she was just eighteen years old. That marriage caused a lot tongue to wag as many saw it as child abuse even though she was already at a legal age to be married.

The reason for the outburst was simply the age different between her and the football star which was about 10 years.

But now, we have witnessed marriages with more than such numbers of years take place in Nigeria like in other part of the world.

Rumors also had it years back that she was forced into the marriage by her parents due to the financial status of Kanu Nwankwo, who eventually took responsibilities of her education after marriage.

Refuting that, the beauty had disclosed in a recent interview that she married the ex-player at such age because she was in love and for her at that point, nothing else mattered.

In her words: “I got married as a teenager. I was young. I think I jumped into the deep end and I simply went with it. I wasn’t scared; I felt it like it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I was in love, so there was no time for a negative feeling like fear to come up. I think the love I had and still have for my husband was all I needed to feel comfortable and good.”
