Last week, kano state government conducted a mass wedding for 1519 couples where the likes of furniture’s and other items were given out by the government to the newlyweds.

Among the participants is Habiba Inusa who had concealed her pregnancy and passed the urine test with her sister’s urine.

The test was set that by the government to determine the pregnant ladies as it was against their sharia law to be pregnant before marriage.

Just a day after the wedding, she gave birth and that caused her to be arraigned alongside her baby for deception and lies, and proper findings revealed that her husband was not the father of the child.

Narrating the full story, the director general of kano Hisbah Board, Dr.Abba Sifu has this to say: 

the woman is currently under the custody of the court in Doguwa Local Government Area. She was arraigned before a Sharia court in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano for adultery and deliberate concealment of pregnancy. Government had confiscated room furniture and other items earlier given to her as benefits of mass wedding exercise. 

Habiba has confessed to the court that she was pregnant months before the mass wedding exercise, and that she offered her younger sister’s urine to escape pregnancy screening exercise. 

 She went to the venue of the screening with her sister’s urine which she concealed in her stomach and when it was her turn for the test, she presented her sister’s urine in place of hers.

She also confirmed that the pregnancy was for one Kamalu who is not her husband, and the said Kamalu was invited, he confessed to have slept with the woman some months ago.”
