While all hope is not lost for a peaceful resolution to Tonto Dikeh’s marriage crisis, there are indications it may yet be a long way off as the two main characters in the unfortunate drama are becoming more distant to themselves.

This much we can deduce from the seeming unfolding rivalry game between Tonto Dikeh’s Foundation and her hubby, Churchill’s Big Church Foundation.

Evidently, while things were cool or hidden to the outside world, Tonto Dikeh had learnt a lot from her husband, whose main claim to fame is through his charity workforce, the Big Church Foundation. A businessman with several other endeavors, the Big Church Foundation still remains the pivot of his popularity, besides being married to the talented but sassy Tonto Dikeh. It wasn’t therefore a big surprise really when in the aftermath of their breakup, Tonto Dikeh decided to throw all her energy into her own Foundation via the Back To School initiative. Smart woman!?

Initially, it didn’t seem like a competition, as Churchill had even in the heat of the speculations of a breakdown surrounding their marriage shared her programmes on his social media space to support her work. But weeks after such placating efforts have yielded no results, it has become clearer that rather than being an extension of Churchill’s work, Tonto Dikeh’s Foundation and Back To School Programme is more out to rival Big Church Foundation.

Here’s why we think so.

1. Both foundations owners are not in speaking terms as Tonto and Churchill’s counter claims of not been able to reach each other even on the phone revealed over the weeks. Yet the respective activities of their foundations continue. That only means one thing: they are neither on the same page nor working together to drive the same goal. At least not for now.

2. Both are competing for limelight at the same time. Barely 24 hours after Big Church Foundation signed RnB sensation Praiz as an Ambassador on their team, Tonto herself flagged off and flaunted her own Foundation’s partnership with Access Bank. While Big Church’s Praiz deal will mean spending, Tonto’s deal will most likely involve more money on the table to push her foundation. Churchill has all the money? Tonto has her schemes!

3. Both have decidedly abandoned their marriage and buried themselves in the foundation work. Unfortunately, it will seem as if the rivalry has entered into the stage of ‘lets see whose hustle will thrive better’. And so, rather than make their marriage work, both are seemingly hell-bent on outdoing each other to make their respective foundations work!

Do you think this x-ray of the unfolding rivalry between these once hot Mr and Mrs X makes them childish? From the much pulse of social media Nigeria we have gauged, indicators are that many share that view. But then, the one million dollar question is: what is the obssession about foundations about anyway? Is it just really borne out of pure passion for the less privileged or is it merely a means to another end that we do not know about yet? Or, more bluntly, is it another form of hustle? Whatever it is, is it worth killing a home for?

As Celeb Police already said on this platform, it makes no real sense trying to save or help others when it’s so glaring we need that saving the most. Again, Tonto Dikeh and Churchill Oladunni must first revisit the foundation of their cracking marriage and rebuild it. Neither the Big Church Foundation nor the Tonto Dikeh Foundation will suffice.
