Not again! The hot soup that embattled film maker, Seun Egbegbe entered is still getting hotter. He , is currently under detention at Area H, Ogudu, for allegedly defrauding some bureau de change operators of $60,000.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer SP Dolapo Badmos was the one who confirmed the $60,000 fraud . She said, “Yes, the command in investigating him. He is under interrogation at Area H now.”
Meanwhile, Lagos-based lawyer, Adigun Bankole whom we spoke with said Seun Egbegbe faces a 3-year jail term if found guilty of stealing the iPhones.
‘On the account of if he is found guilty on the next adjourned date depends on the charge profiled against him as well as evidence adduced to that effect. In any case, if found guilty of stealing as provided for under section 390 of the criminal code he shall be liable for three years imprisonment,’ he said
He added that if the court deems it fit, Seun could be given the option of paying a fine. However, Sugen is still innocent by virtue of section 36 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which provides that until found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction, an accused is still presumed innocent hence the bail is inevitable though at the discretion of the court.
To add to his woes, he was arrested while he was trying to defraud an unsuspecting BDC operator of N10 million today. Imagine, Seun was said to have pretended to be a medical doctor while trying to defraud the man. This incident happened live at the Gbagada general hospital in Lagos. He was taken to the police station.
