Call him the most maligned Nigerian man of 2016 and you will be spot on. Maje Ayida, ex-hubby of Toke Makinwa, has been the subject of public ridicule for a while now in the wake of the unsavory details of his failed marriage with the celebrated On-Air-Personality.
Foremost Nigerian rapper, M.I Abaga was part of those who strongly condemned him.
But in all the face of the public outrage against his person, Maje has remained mum, making everyone guess what his endgame is. While Anita, the babymama that rocked her social handle thrown reprisals at the attacks from the ignominious story, Maje’s silence is deafening. The only preoccupation of the man seems to be his fitness life. But is this really the case?
On the surface, Toke Makinwa’s TV interview on Rubbin Minds where she responded to questions over fears of being sued seem to give an inkling into why Maje or Anita cannot sue her for defamation. In her words, “it is my story”.
At a deeper level however, Celeb Police advances other theories that might explain why Maje has seemingly taken the whole affair in his stride:
It could be the allegations are true
It could be there’s a backdoor settlement no one is willing to talk us about
It could be Maje doesn’t want to escalate the whole mess further
It could be he truly loved her and doesn’t want to fight her in public
Maybe he never loved her in the first place, and as such doesn’t care a hoot over the fuss On Becoming has generated
Maybe it was sympathy marriage all along
It could be that Toke’s payday from the book was a shared booty
It could be we have all been played!
Whatever it is, it is one or more of the above submissions. Maje could still clear the air though by sharing with Celeb Police his own side of the story. A one-sided story is usually subjective. That’s why judges hear pleas from accused and defendants before making a judgment. Maje has been tried in the media and sentenced in the public domain, but for what it’s worth, Celeb Police is offering a life-line for an appeal. If not for anything, maybe for posterity’s sake.
