Award-winning songstress and peace advocate, Irikefe Obareki, popularly known as Kefee, will this weekend release the music video of her latest album; A Piece… Of Me.
This album which is schedule to be released this weekend is, according to the sensational singer however, for members of the media’s airplay and content sampling only, following which the general market release shall commence by the end of this month.
Kefee who only just returned from London, UK last February after receiving the Female Vocalist Award of the Women in Entertainment & Art Foundation, said that the video only contains the fast selling track, Kokoroko; one of six (6) others billed for the general release for now.
The popular crossover act appointed the United Nations Young Ambassador for Peace last February also disclosed that Kokoroko, which featured shot on location in Sapele, Delta state on a 35mm (film) camera and directed by Wudi Awa features music star, Timaya “in a way he has never been seen on TV”.
She said that the Kokoroko, which means strong in her native Urhobo language is one in her fast selling 15-track album (with 2 bonus tracks) with other songs like WADO which she declares a song of Nigeria’s rebranding; and others like Africa, Bodyguard, Food is ready, and more.
Kefee who was declared Leading Female Musician of the Niger Delta People by the Dokubo Asari Foundation for showcasing the Niger Delta’s rich culture nationally and internationally, explained that she hopes to conclude work on her videos soon to enable her focus only on the Kefee Peace Concert billed for mid this year.
She further said that arrangements regarding the Concert are in top gear as discussions with performing artistes like Angelique Kidjo from Benin Republic, Yvonne Chaka Chaka from South Africa, Sandra from Rwanda, Kahz from Gabon, Blueblaze from Benin Republic also, and a host of Nigerian music stars are about to be concluded.
Kefee who last December launched the album, A Piece of Me at a celebrity event in Lagos, Nigeria with critical and mass acclaim following the effort, expressed satisfaction at its performance in the market and ratings across charts.
